Events

Due to some internal restructuring, we've had to postpone our ongoing and planned events.

I have to say that I'm grateful for the understanding of our Gongsters, who calmly accepted the news and went on playing without any wild outcry.

Of particular note is Eyeshield 21, who has started holding his own events. Kudos to him!

I believe I'll be able to renew the Friendster promo next week. This was a terrific idea on the part of [GM]Wakamaru, and it should be interesting to see what our community comes up with.

Today I'll work on something to increase our player base a bit. Results should be in next week or so.

Sleep

On a personal note, I'll be on leave tomorrow and Friday. Been feeling tired lately... I think I'll just sleep the weekend away. Zzzz...

So how do you win events?

Have you ever joined any of our Gong events? if so did you win?
I have some tips for you gongsters if you want to beat us in our daily events....
  • Know your role......if you are a defender stick to defending, your items or skills may not be effective in scoring but it would be great for your team if you can stop your opponent from making goals. Same goes for attackers and helpers.
  • Talk / Listen......hear what your teammate is planning, a good team play beats the best opponents if the play is done right.
  • Use items.......use items to your advantage. Save those hot peppers for critical parts of the game. Why use peppers when you can dance and charge up your Fury....Always look for instances where you can freely use the dance skill, it is a bit risky but it will save you from using peppers. Defenders usually get these instances. If your opponent is already imprisoned in ice don't use ink or other disabling items...that's 1 item that didn't go to waste.
  • Purchase tickets...tickets that boost your LEG, BRAIN, HEART & FOOT gives you the edge. Higher stats says it all...faster run speed, fury increase, etc. You can always purchase a 1 day ticket stat boost for events, its not that expensive and it is surely worth it if you win the 10 Full star prize. 50 GONG coins is roughly 10 pesos, or you could buy the 30 day tickets which is a lot better than buying daily tickets. You can top up HERE.
that's all for now and more tips to come....keep your bananas....errrr.....eyes peeled for my next post.

Olympics Kick Off

Well it's Friday now. (:P) Hmm... well seems like today the Beijing Olympics kick off and not surprising since it's Aug 8, 2008 (888) which is an auspicious day for Chinese like me.

For those of you who don't know, eight (8) is a lucky number among us Chinese, it means the more eights the better the chance of success. (There's more to this but I can't remember it at the moment.)

Well that's it for me.. although honestly speaking am not that quite excited about the Olympics... How about you? Are you excited about the Olympics?

Gongsterize Your Friendster!

Hello pips, today is Friday and I'm still promoting GONG! by adding friends in our Friendster account. Wow! The friends list is already at 300. The good thing is that when they add our Friendster account they will see the screenshots and the videos attached on the GONG! profile account.

An interesting idea came to mind earlier--to have a promo outside the event by putting a GONG-related background for their Friendster profile pages. Click here to see the mechanics.

I hope many participants join this promo. I'm crossing my fingers. ^^

GONG! @ Download.Com

Finally!

It took me a while to get GONG! uploaded to Download.com, but it did pay off.

The promised date was for August 13 (they give it a buffer period of 2 weeks or so between the time you upload the product and the time it actually appears on-site, so that they can make sure you're not trying to send people a virus); however, it went up on August 4. I hopefully checked the site, knowing it was too early, and there it was! Yay!

As of now, it lists 14 downloads made. My only worry is that the Download.com people took out the part I put under 'limitations' saying that the game is only available to people in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. People outside our territory could be downloading it now and will make annoyed posts rating the product down if they find they went to all that trouble for nothing and are IP-blocked.

I did revise the description once I saw the limitations had been removed, though, to include the caveat regarding territory coverage. It should go up in a little over a week.

New Events

We're taking the events elsewhere, aside from the game. Wakamaru has plans for Friendster and perhaps other SNS sites, and we'll be making an announcement regarding this pretty soon. (First we have to go through the boring technical steps of getting the mechanics laid out on the site, etc.)
